Bringing Joy

This year saw the release of the popular Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. She challenges our frequent obsession with clutter by asking us to keep only those things that spark joy in our lives.

We are right to seek out joy, which is a key theme during Advent and Christmas. When Mary learned that she was pregnant and would give birth to the son of God, she expressed her joy in song. Likewise, the angel brought news of great joy to the shepherds. The good news of the birth of Jesus is a tremendous source of joy for the whole world!

Joy is an important counterweight to a season that is often stressful, exhausting, and even sorrowful for some. How will you experience joy during this Advent season? How will you bring joy to those around you?
