Real Rest
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 NIV
This is one of Jesus’s great promises to us. When we are weary of life, of doing good, of enduring the struggle, we are supposed to go to Jesus to receive this rest. On this Labor Day weekend, which is marked by grill outs and mini-vacations, let us remember anew that it is not the absence of a workday that brings us true rest or a relief of our burdens, but going to Jesus. Go to Jesus in prayer, seek Him in the scriptures, and search for His goodness through the stories of the faithful.
