Holiday Traditions

Holiday Traditions

Most families have a number of traditions that they maintain during the holidays, but they don’t always start with that intention. Typically we do something and decide to do it again the next year. Before you know it, a new tradition is born! Maybe you always gather at someone’s home. Or perhaps it’s a favorite dish that someone always prepares. You may have a certain traditional activity that you do together.

But traditions can often change over time. Families change, circumstances are different from year to year, or it may be more difficult to get everyone together to carry on the tradition.

Traditions tend to run deep in a lot of churches, too. But these can change as churches evolve over time. We formed Cornerstone Church more than two years ago through the merger of two separate congregations. If we’ve learned anything over that time, it’s that we are often finding new ways to express our faith. Just like the rest of the world, we are learning to be adaptable as God continues to work in our church.

This Christmas season, embrace your traditions, but also be sure to embrace the freshness that God brings with each new day!

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
