Poured Out: Hope

Poured Out: Hope

The recent passing of Billy Graham has led many of us to reflect on the influence of his life. Nearly all of us, regardless of our background or faith journey, can point to ways that Billy Graham’s preaching has affected us. For some of us, his ministry has played a directly significant role in our coming to the Christian faith. Billy Graham’s gentle–but persuasive–approach has been widely respected for generations.

Billy Graham’s preaching has always been characterized by a simple focus on personal salvation. He often proclaimed the hope that Christians share of one day being united with Jesus in heaven. This is precisely one of the factors that have attracted so many to his ministry over the years. As a believer, Billy Graham did not simply possess hope; he made it his life’s mission to proclaim it to the world.

Christians are, by definition, people of hope. We live our lives always in anticipation of what God will do in the future. We may never preach to thousands, but we can follow Billy Graham’s example of being people who proclaim hope to those around us. Who needs to hear a word of hope from you today?

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
